B. Steven Bentsen, MD, MBA, DFAPA
Dr. Bentsen has been the behavioral health medical director for HealthyBlue since 2019.
He completed residency in psychiatry at the University of North Carolina and a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He is board certified in general and addiction psychiatry.
He has served as medical director of behavioral health facilities in North Carolina including crisis centers, and as an LME Medical Director. He then joined Value Options in Raleigh, North Carolina which later merged with Beacon Health to form Beacon Health Options. He was Associate Chief Medical Officer for national employer, health plan and Medicaid populations.
Dr. Bentsen also worked with the Community Care of North Carolina network and served in the past as chairman of southeastern North Carolina regional CCNC network. He has served as adjunct faculty at Department of Psychiatry, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Duke University and East Carolina University. He was past president of the North Carolina Psychiatric Association and psychiatry representative to North Carolina Medical Society.
