Ashley Wurth
Ashley Wurth, MA, works on statewide overdose prevention initiatives as Overdose Prevention Team Lead for the Injury and Violence Prevention Branch of NC DPH. Prior to this role, she was heavily involved in the development and implementation of the Watauga LEAD and Recovery on the Inside programs, where she also provided clinical case management, counseling and peer support services. For the past several years she has volunteered for Olive Branch Ministry, providing mobile syringe services outreach in Northwestern NC. Although she holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Appalachian State University, Ashley learned more about life and this work from using substances, frequenting detention centers, loving people who use drugs, and living on the fringes of society than she ever has in a classroom.
