Donna Beckmann
Donna Beckmann brings over 15 years of advocacy in disability rights, notably as the former Advocacy and Outreach Director for the North Carolina Down Syndrome Alliance. She organized the annual Down Syndrome Advocacy Day at the NC General Assembly and participated in advocacy days on Capitol Hill. Donna has completed training in disability policy and leadership through Partners in Policy Making and Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND). Donna currently serves on Alliance Health CFAC and the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) Public Policy Advisory Committee.
Donna focuses on community outreach within the disability community as a consultant. She leads efforts to enhance community inclusion and improve accessibility for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Donna develops and implements outreach programs that empower individuals and their families with essential resources, aiming to improve their quality of life.
Donna is the mother of Thomas, born in 2000, who has Down syndrome. He has been on the NC Innovations Waiver Registry of Unmet Needs since July 2012. She continues to advocate for inclusive communities and collaborate with local organizations, healthcare providers, legislators, and government officials to promote understanding and acceptance through impactful outreach events and workshops.
