Dana Hagele, MD, MPH

Dr. Dana Hagele is a board-certified child abuse pediatrician who has lived and worked in North Carolina for 26 years. Throughout her career, Dr. Hagele maintained a child maltreatment pediatric practice, serving UNC Hospitals, Duke University Medical Center, and CrossRoads Child Advocacy Center. She is a co-founder and former Director of the NC Child Treatment Program, a training and implementation platform focused on expanding capacity for evidence-based, child mental health treatment modalities. She also served as the Director of Clinical Services for Children’s Advocacy Centers of North Carolina, providing training and clinical consultation in support of the statewide network of Child Advocacy Centers. In 2024, Dr. Hagele joined Blue Cross NC as the Chief Medical Officer for Healthy Blue Care Together, the NC Medicaid Children and Families Specialty Plan. Dana is a licensed foster parent through the Children’s Home Society, providing respite and foster care.
