James Burns

James Burns

Hi, I am James Burns. With over 10 years of experience in the healthcare industry, I have had the privilege of working in various roles that have shaped my career. Beginning in finance, I realized my passion for making a positive impact on people’s lives and transitioned to care management.

As a direct descendant of Chief Nimrod Smith, I am proud of my rich heritage with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and the values it has instilled in me. It serves as a reminder of the importance of community, leadership, and preserving our culture for the next seven generations.

Currently, I hold the position of Provider Network Manager for the EBCI Tribal Option, a role I have been dedicated to since its inception. In this capacity, I have been instrumental in developing and managing a robust network of healthcare providers, ensuring our tribal community receives the highest quality of care.

Throughout my career, I have fostered strong relationships with healthcare professionals, collaborating to improve access to healthcare services and championing the well-being of our community. I am deeply committed to creating a network that is equitable, patient-centered, and culturally sensitive.

Outside of work, I enjoy immersing myself in various interests, including hiking, camping, and spending time with my wife and two young children. These passions provide me with a well-rounded perspective and enhance my ability to connect with people from all walks of life.
