Leigh Steiner, Ph.D.

Leigh has worked in the public behavioral health sector for over four decades. She began her work in the prison system as a therapist, and ultimately served as the CEO of a state psychiatric hospital, and then as the Commissioner of Mental Health in the State of Illinois. She now serves as a Senior Consultant in Behavioral Health for Relias and as an Adjunct Professor in the Human Development and Counseling program at the University of Illinois Springfield. Leigh has served as an Executive Coach and consultant in strategic planning and organizational development at many local, state, and national behavioral health organizations. She earned her Ph.D. from Southern Illinois University in Counselling, Psychology and Speech Communications. She earned her certificate in Appreciative Inquiry from Case Western University. She is presently pursuing her certificate in becoming an End of Life Doula.
